LEAFS GO NORTH FOR THE HOLIDAYS


The Mass Maple Leafs ushering in the holidays and the New Year with two trips
to Canada this season.

The Leafs first go to their annual trip to the Paul Coffey Tournament in
Missassauga, Ontario December 27-30th. This will be the Leafs 5th time in this tournament.
The Leafs best finish was the first time in the tournament. That year the Leafs finished
in 2nd place. They have had numerous semi final appearances.

The Leafs 2nd trip to Canada will be to Moorestown Silver Sticks Tournament Jan 6-9th 2011.
The Leafs qualified for the tournament via their strong play in past Coffey tournaments
as well as playing AJAX and Toronto East Enders to some very tough games in the past.
The Leafs are 1 of 3 US teams in the tournament with Michigan Ice Dogs and Motor City Chiefs
representing the others.

The Leafs CHA team continues to lead the tight 3 way race between themselves Junior Bruins
and Bay State Breakers. The Leafs have a 1 game lead on the Bruins and a 2 game lead on the Breakers.
The Leafs are battling some major injuries and are hoping that some of these players
will be able to return to the lineup sometime in the month of February.

The Leafs have three players currently over 50+ points Benny Brouillard (60) Cj Cordiero (57)
Jarred Mitrano (56) along with another three 40+ point scorers in Ryan Merz (47) Andrew Mathieu (44)
and Patrick Avery (43). The Leafs have also had 3 player of the week winners in Brouillard,
Avery and Cordeiro. The Leafs defense is led by veterans Rob Berg with 34 points
and PJ Burnham with 27 points. Leafs goalie Boyd Zinger is leading the CHA in GAA and save % as well,

With these injuries some players from the Leafs IJ team has been asked to step it up
such as Kurtis Garcia who 16 points thus far on the CHA team to name one who has excelled
in the two team prong of attack.

With the Leafs CHA team full of injuries the Leafs IJ team has had their share as well.
The Leafs have a total of 5 forward and 3 defensive positions available between both of the teams.
