Leafs
conclude Summer and head into their 14th Season
The
Leafs ended their summer tournaments recently with having two teams in
the
Eastern Junior Summer Showcase. The Leafs had one entry in the A division
and one entry
in the B division.
The team in the B division played the South Shore Kings Empire team,
Philadelphia Revolution Empire and Jersey Hitmen Empire. The Leafs had
a slow start versus the Kings
which was too much to overcome and lost 5-2. The Leafs made up of a roster
of 93s to 97s
then fought to very good Empire teams in the Philly Revolution and Jersey
Hitmen and lost 1-0 and 2-1
respectively. The younger Leafs made a name for themselves all weekend
playing versus the older competition.
The team in the A division played NH Monarchs Empire, Brewster Bulldogs
Empire
and Florida Eels EJ South entry. The Leafs disposed the Monarchs 5-1
Brewster 5-2 and Eels 5-3.
The Leafs would go 3-0 and win their bracket and advance to the playoff
rounds.
The Leafs would make their 2nd appearance in the playoffs this Summer
but also their 2nd consecutive playoff
appearance in the A Division for the EJ Summer Showcase.
The Leafs would take on the Junior Bruins EJ team in the quarterfinals.
The Bruins team had a 11 D1 commits so this would be a monumental task.
The Leafs refused to listen
to the press clippings and gave the Bruins a run for their money behind
stellar goaltending
of Shane Benjamin but wasn’t enough and lost 3-1.
The Leafs conclude their summer record of 12-11-2 record versus EJ,
AJ, MET, Empire and AAA teams.
The Leafs teams were mostly made up of individual registrations and most
of the time had
9-12 different states being represented on the Leafs roster each tournament.
The Leafs will have two teams this coming season. The Leafs will ice
a full season Junior team
in the Continental Hockey Association and a split season U 18AAA independent
team.
Both teams have spots remaining for the upcoming season. For more information
