LEAFS
HEADING INTO THE HALFWAY POINT
BANGED UP AND ON TOP
The Leafs have had a very tough
first half of the season that included injuries such as a broken
hand,
broken wrist, torn acl, along with a severe sprained ankle.
The Leafs have also experienced cases of mono and strep throat to go
along with a winless September.
If the injuries and sicknesses were not enough they also had a few disciplinary
issues both on and off the ice
to top matters off. With all the above scenarios you would think this
is a team that must be near
the bottom of the standings which is far from the truth.
The Leafs are currently 9-1-1 in the CHA Eastern Conference and lead
with the best winning percentage
by a small margin over both the Boston Junior Bruins and the Bay State
Breakers at the halfway point.
The Leafs have played a significant amount of league games less compared
to everyone else,
however the Leafs have played a total of 40 games that include their
12 game Midwest trip along with other
tournaments and non league games.
The Leafs are led by nine players over 20 points. That group is led
by Jarred Mitrano (45),
Ryan Merz and Andrew Mathieu (38), Benny Brouillard (37), Cj Cordeiro
(35), Patrick Avery (27)
and defenseman Rob Berg (25). Goalie Boyd Zinger carries a 5-0-1 record
in league play along
with a league leading 1.51 GAA and a 96 save %.
With all the injuries both the CHA and IJ Leafs are looking for 5 forwards
and 3 defensemen to finish out
the season. If anyone is interested in the Leafs programs or these positions
feel free to contact
GM Tony DeSilva at 508-971-0808 or email at hockbase@aol.com. The Leafs
