MASS MAPLE LEAFS JUNIOR HOCKEY CLUB REACH ANOTHER MILESTONE
The Mass Maple Leafs won their 400th game for their Head Coach Tony DeSilva in an 11-2
victory versus the Metro Moose at the Hetland Arena in New Bedford. This accomplishment
occurred in the 9+ years in existence in game # 720. Coach DeSilva current record is
401-270-50 .556 winning percentage and over an average of 40 wins a season.
During the existence of the Leafs, Coach DeSilva has won championships in the CHA Selects
and Premier Divisions, the Empire League Playoff Champion twice along with many tournament
wins during this time. The Leafs have also made some appearances in some National
tournaments including winning the National Junior Open Championship.
The Leafs have advanced 29 players to the Junior A Level, another 67 players to College Hockey
and 6 players to the professional ranks.
The Leafs have also advanced several former players into the collegiate coaching ranks as well.
Andy Lecolst, Greg Lecolst and Peter Fay all coach at Salve Regina University and Brian Travers
is an assistant coach at Bridgewater State.
The Leafs will be looking to add to their total of advancements with this 2007-08 edition with
possibly 12 player movements by the year end. This edition is currently 27-1 in league play and
44-22-2 overall with 12 games remaining in the regular season. The Leafs have been ranked #1
in the country since the beginning of the season by juniorhockeyrankings.com.
Next season, the Leafs will return to Junior B status after a one year hiatus from the Premier
Division which they have been champion and runner-up. The Leafs will also have a split season
High School Development team.
The Leafs are currently accepting resumes for a Head coach as well as 2-3 assistant positions.
