6/25/09 - MASS MAPLE LEAFS HIGH SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT TEAM MAKES SOME CHANGES
FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON

The Mass Maple Leafs High School Development team had a very successful independent
schedule last year that concluded with a loss in the International Junior Hockey League
National Elite final.

The Leafs are going to build on that successful season by this year making some
alterations to their schedule.  The Leafs team has been invited to participate in a Fall Super 8
High School League.  Super 8 (an MIAA term for Division 1A championships).  The Leafs will
play in a league with the likes of Massachusetts powerhouse hockey schools such as Malden
Catholic, Xaverian, Catholic Memorial, St Johns, Reading to name a few.   The Leafs will not
only participate in the league but will also play a very strong independent schedule playing
Junior B C prep schools and college club teams.

The schedule will comprise of approximately 30-35 games prior to the high school season.
This type of schedule will allow area high school players to compete versus top high school
players in the State, along with getting a sampling of Juniors and prep school competition.
General Manager Tony DeSilva states,  " This is a great opportunity for this area to be able to
play the best of all levels its makes it a no brainer to play this prior to playing at their high
school."  DeSilva went onto say"  This is the first step to many possible future avenues for this
area that will involve the Maple Leafs organization."  Stay tuned for more announcements with
this newest development.  The Leafs are still seeking some players for not only their HS
Development team but their full season Junior B team as well.   For more information on the
Leafs you can go onto their site at www.massmapleleafs.com or email Tony DeSilva at
