MASS MAPLE LEAFS BATTLE HARD AND DOMINATE AT TIMES BUT THAT STILL ISN'T ENOUGH

The Mass Maple Leafs Junior B team dominated all of the first periods in all three of their
preliminary round games versus Pittsburgh Junior Penguins, New Jersey Titans and Central
Penn Panthers.  The Leafs had 1st period domination of puck control of cycling the puck deep in
their opponent’s zone.  This constant pressure ended up creating shots from their points
however the Leafs were only able to score 7 goals in 3 games.  The Leafs averaged a 5 plus goal
game average throughout their 89 game seasons.

Throughout the National tournament the Leafs would continue to battle through adversity as
they have all season but was only able to muster a hard fought come from behind tie with the
Jersey Titans 5-5.  The Leafs lost to the Penguins 4-0 despite out shooting them but several
defensive lapses cost the Leafs the victory.  The Leafs other lost was to finalist Panthers who
they held a lead 2-1 with 2 minutes remaining in the 2nd period.  This was until the Leafs were
whistled in the last 22 minutes of the game for over 36 minutes of infractions compared to the
Panthers six minutes.  The Panthers special teams then took over the game and iced the game
for the Panthers 6-2.

The Leafs were led by Nash Winters with 4 goals and an assist to bring his National
appearances with 16 points in 8 games, Ronnie Paiva with 4 assists.

The Leafs battled all season to get a chance to go to Nationals and that was half the battle.
The other half was trying to prove we belonged.
